Women In Golf

More Than Just a Game: Celebrating Women on the Fairway.
The gentle click of the club, the satisfying thwack as ball meets sweet spot, the shared camaraderie across the green – these are the joys of golf, a sport that transcends age and ability. And here at Osborne Golf Club we're thrilled to see an ever-growing number of women embracing these joys and enriching our club with their passion and presence.
For too long, golf might have been perceived as a male-dominated domain. But the landscape is changing, and for the better. Women are bringing a fresh energy to our fairways, demonstrating skill, strategy, and a genuine love for the game. Whether they're seasoned players with impressive handicaps or newcomers just discovering the thrill of their first birdie, their contribution to our club is invaluable.
We're incredibly proud of the vibrant community of women golfers here at Osborne Golf Club. From friendly weekly roll-ups and competitive club championships to social gatherings and shared laughter in the clubhouse, the bonds forged on the course extend far beyond the 18th hole. These connections create a supportive and encouraging environment where players of all levels can learn, grow, and most importantly, enjoy their golf.
The benefits of golf for women are manifold. It's a fantastic way to stay active, enjoying the fresh air and stunning scenery our course offers. It's a mental challenge, demanding focus and strategic thinking. And it's a wonderful social outlet, providing opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals and build lasting friendships.
By signing up to the R&A ‘Women in Golf Charter’, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all our members. We actively encourage women to join our club and participate in all aspects of our golfing life. We offer tailored beginner programs, academy coaching, dedicated tee times and plenty of opportunity to play mixed golf competitions. We believe that a diverse membership strengthens our club and enhances the experience for everyone.
So, to all the women golfers already gracing our fairways – thank you for your enthusiasm, your spirit, and your contribution to our club. And to any women considering taking up the game or looking for a welcoming golfing community – we extend a warm invitation to join us at Osborne Golf Club. Come and discover the joy of golf, the camaraderie of our members, and the beauty of our course. You'll find a supportive environment where you can thrive, both on and off the green.
Let's continue to champion women in golf and celebrate the growing number of talented and passionate players who are making their mark on our beloved sport. We look forward to seeing you on the tee!

Women in Golf

The R&A Women in Golf Charter

A commitment to a more inclusive culture within golf

We, Osborne GC, call on everyone involved in golf to play their part in developing a culture that values women’s involvement in every aspect of the sport, from participating to pursuing a career.

Our aim is to increase the number of women and girls playing and working in golf.
To achieve this goal and to enable women to flourish throughout golf, we recognise the need for a fundamental shift in culture. There is a clear ethical need for change and the potential economic benefits of growing the sport through more women and girls playing are substantial.
The R&A commits to playing a leading role in this process and to working with affiliates, partners and the wider golf industry towards achieving this goal.
In signing this Charter, we Osborne GC commit to making tangible efforts to develop a welcoming and inspiring environment for women. We will do more to attract women into golf, to remain, and to have rewarding careers.

The Charter:
Is a statement of intent from the golf industry and Osborne GC, to unite and to focus gender balance at all levels.
Commits us all to supporting measures to increase the number of women, girls and families playing golf
Calls for positive action to encourage women to pursue careers in all areas of the sport
Recognises the need for change that creates an inclusive environment within golf and our golf club

Signatories commit to activate this Charter by:
Developing and implementing an internal strategy for enhancing gender balance at every level
Establishing senior management responsibility and accountability for gender balance and inclusion, which is discussed and reviewed at committee/board level with Osborne GC
Strongly advocating more women and girls playing and working in golf.
Working with key stakeholders to develop and embed a more inclusive culture.
Promoting the Charter and our goal of encouraging more women and girls to play golf and work in golf.
